Back in May, my good friend Tasha and I took to the Welsh Highlands to climb the first of many mountains on our list; Snowdon. Our last attempt to climb back in 2018 coincided with a destructive visit from Storm Ali. Our humble plans were, quite literally, blown away.

For round two, we decided to climb the Pyg track, and – having made the most of the hotel breakfast (and bathtub) – were lucky enough to miss the morning rain. We reached the summit just in time for the sun to make an appearance.

During our visit to Snowdonia we stayed at the Craig-y-Dderwen Hotel (or The Riverside Hotel for me and you) in the beautiful village Betws-y-Coed. From our bedroom windows you could see nothing but rolling hills.

The hotel grounds stretch far into the valley, and just short walk from the gardens takes you to Fairy Glen, a secluded gorge on the River Conwy. We made the most of the good weather, fresh air and the bloody good Welsh food before making our way back to home.
